Since its inception, The Sharing Tree has provided much-needed supplies for 2955 Hudson & Somerset students. This fall we supported 259 students at an average cost of $46 per student to completely outfit students with the teacher requested school supplies to support their success in the classroom
Over the past 5 years, Marty Party funds raised to date: $19,663.00! This Translates to 427 students assisted by the generosity of our Hudson and Somerset communities.
I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you how this really all started – The Sharing Tree began in 2002 after Cindy’s volunteer work with The Caring Tree, a school supply program operating in every school district in Minnesota. A father approached her about registering his three sons for assistance. Sadly Cindy had to deny his request because they attended school in Hudson and this was a Minnesota program. But being the doer that she is, Cindy promised this man that there WOULD be a program for his children in Hudson the following year.
So the next year Cindy & Ken Corbett and their three children organized and operated The Sharing Tree out of their home.
Meanwhile, around 1998 I first met this cute little barista when she was working at Caribou. We saw each other many mornings and I loved seeing her… Then one day she was not there… And life went on. Then a few years later entering the Starbucks drive-through I pull up to see CINDY! and again we fell into each other’s life… But again times changed and we lost track of each other. Finally, 4 years ago my sister was having a party and she said “ hey I saw your friend Cindy at Target. Hmm, Cindy .. Cindy who? I show up and instantly I knew that this was not going to be a time I lose track of her… I knew of The Sharing Tree and had this dream of hosting an event that supports children and education and connects it with all this crazy Christmas I do. And poof here we are three years later.. And each year I am so inspired by the integrity and constant hustle this little lady puts into this charity. You make me a better person Cindy!
I am so honored and humbled by the generosity of my friends and the Hudson/Somerset businesses that have so kindly donated withOUT hesitation. .. Please consider supporting these businesses this season and all year long!
